Discounts, Promotions and Vouchers

Unfortunately we cannot accept all our discount codes online currently. To use your discount code you can either visit the store to purchase the item, or to guarantee it will be available in store – you can purchase online at full price for collection to your chosen store and the colleague in store will refund the discount to you when you collect the item.

The following discounts can only be used in store:

  • British Cycling*
  • Cycling UK
  • One4all
  • Colleague discount

Unfortunately, we do not accept the following discounts online or in store:

  • Bonus Bond
  • Capital Bond
  • Red Letter Day
  • Compliment Vouchers (but we do accept Compliments Mastercard gift cards in store)

Click on your basket, and then click 'Enter Promo Code'. Pop in the code and click Apply. If the code is valid, the discount will show in your basket.

Please contact your internal Human Resources team; they'll be able to confirm if Halfords has a scheme with your employer. Discounts can only be used in store and not online.

Online Voucher Codes



Voucher codes can only be used online but can’t be redeemed in store. In the basket, click on the link titled 'Add Voucher Code' and enter the code before clicking 'Apply Code' to deduct the discount. The item must match the category for the specific code. Voucher codes cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or on a bundle deal.

First, check the dates to ensure that the code's valid. If it's within the dates and it's still not working, please contact us and we'll try and sort it out for you.

Get in touch with us, and have the voucher code and your order reference number handy. A member of our Customer Services team will take a look and get back to you.

There are occasions when further Ts&Cs apply that may prevent British Cycling and Cycling UK being used in conjunction with other offers, such as Buy One Get One Free or 3 for 2, please see below. However, this does mean that, unless stated otherwise, British Cycling and Cycling UK can normally be used with everyday promotional offers such as automatic Price Matches.

For example, if we had ‘Half Price on Kids Bikes’ running, the discount could normally be used with that, as it’s an offer, not a voucher – the only exception would be if the T&C’s of that particular offer specifically excluded it from being used with other offers; see below for more information.

Unfortunately, we do not accept Tesco Clubcard vouchers as a method of payment in either our retail or Autocentre stores.

If you are a Motoring club member and need to enter your clubcard details online please log in and visit your 'my account' section to enter your details, where applicable.

How can I pay ?

If you're shopping online, we accept Halfords gift cards and the following cards registered in the UK; VISA, Mastercard, Paypal, Switch, and Maestro.

If you're heading into store, we accept all of the cards above as well as high street vouchers, Gift Cards, cash and credit cards. Business cheques that are guaranteed by Transax are only accepted in our Irish stores.

Unfortunately, we don't accept personal cheques.

You certainly can! You'll need to create a Halfords account and link your Trade Card to it, and once that's done you'll be able to view trade prices online. Visit our Trade Card Hub to find out more and link your card to a new or existing account.

Cycle2Work

Once you have your letter of collection - to use it, all you need to do is present it at the till with your items at your local Halfords store. Prefer to shop online? Price match

We do! In order for us to be able to Price Match against a competitor, we need to ensure a few things:

  • The Retailer's item is identical in size, colour etc and is currently in stock.
  • The Retailer's price includes delivery but doesn't include any personal/membership discounts
  • The Retailer is based in the UK and sells directly to customers
  • The competitor's item must be in stock for home delivery, or for collection at a store within a 30 mile radius at the time of match.
  • We will match in store if our online price is lower than our store price. This applies to Click & Collect orders only, not home / work delivery.


Terms & Conditions
  1. The competitor's item must be identical (colour, size etc)
  2. The competitor's item must be in stock at the time of match
  3. The competitor's price must include delivery
  4. The competitors price must be publically advertised online and cannot include any membership/personal discounts
  5. We cannot match bulk promotional offers such as buy one get one free
  6. The competitor must be based in the UK and sell direct to customers (no auction or marketplace retailers)
  7. No other promotional offers or vouchers can be used on top of a price match
  8. We will match within 7 days of receipt of purchase
  9. We will match in store if our online price is lower than our store price
  10. We will not match against clearance, closing down sales or specialist retailers such as market stalls.
  11. In order to change the price of items bought on finance, the original agreement must be cancelled and a new one created at the lower price. The new agreement must still meet the minimum value and item requirements for finance.
  12. Items sold by Halfords Approved Partners are not subject to our price match policy.

Payment Scurity

Pre-authorisation is the practice within the banking industry of authorising electronic transactions made with a debit or credit card. This balance is held as unavailable, either until the merchant confirms the transaction or is no longer needed. The pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds have been debited from your account. The funds will not be taken from your method of payment until your order has been dispatched.

3D Secure is an additonal security measure when using your card online.

Gift Cards

Yes they do - the gift card expires after 24 months. If it hasn't been used during this time, the balance will be gone!

While we do our absolute best to remain competitive in the market, sometimes it is possible that another retailer sells the same item slightly cheaper. In order to offer you the best value possible, we're happy to offer a Price Matching service so you can get the lowest price.

If you find a cheaper price online or in-store we'll match it, and if you find it after you've purchased from us we'll refund the difference within 7 days of purchase. Please note that we do price match Amazon when they are selling the product directly but we don't price match Amazon Marketplace sellers.

Simply take a print out of the competitor's online price into any Halfords store ensuring the date and price are shown, or show our colleagues the price on your smartphone, and we will match the competitor price if within policy. The item must be in stock at their nearest store, within a 30 mile radius, and not marked as a clearance item.

We can also price match items for home delivery if you contact Customer Support, providing the order number and link for the price you wish to match; we can either adjust the price on the item before the payment is taken, or refund the difference if the payment has already been taken. In both cases, we can match the price either at the time that the order was placed or up to 7 days from receiving the order.

If you've bought something from us and the price has been reduced within seven days of the purchase date, you can return the item to your local store for a refund of the difference.

Will I get a receipt with my contactless payment?

Yes, a receipt will be issued for all card payments, unless you choose otherwise.

Will the contactless payment method show on the receipt?

Absolutely, the receipt will show the payment method.

What is the contactless PHONE payment transaction limit?

Unlike physical card payments, there isn’t a blanket maximum limit of 30/30. Having said that, high ticket purchases may be limited by your bank, according the type of card used.

When will contactless not be accepted by the PED?

The PIN Entry Device evaluates each card when making a payment,and will decide what payment methods and limits are offered at the time. Contactless may not by authorised for certain cards or under certain conditions. If this is the case, we can offer our normal chip & pin method.

Can contactless payments be taken if the PED is offline?

Yes, the PIN Entry Device can take payments offline, and will store them until a connection is made. However, the cardholder may decide that the payment system needs to be online to complete the purchase.

Can a customer use their contactless method for a refund?

Yes, this is fine provided it's the original payment method.

What type of contactless cards will work?

MasterCard, Visa and American Express (AMEX) contactless cards are accepted. However, please not that AMEX contactless cards are currently not supported in the Republic of Ireland.

If you should ever need to make a claim against your insurance, insurance companies will give customers an Insurance Replacement voucher to pay for any item which may have been stolen or damaged in a collision (for example, to replace a car seat). This is rather than cash or bank transfer in an effort to reduce the possibility of fraud. Insurance Replacement vouchers can only be redeemed in-store.

We accept:

We cannot process these vouchers online so they need to be used in a store.
