Motoring Club Terms and Conditions

Please read these Conditions and the documents linked to these Conditions carefully. You will need to agree to these Conditions before we will accept your application for Membership.

To reward loyal customers, Halfords offers the Halfords Motoring Club. These terms and conditions ("Conditions") are the terms on which Halfords supply the Halfords Motoring Club to you ("Member" or "you").

All Halfords retail stores, Halfords Autocentres, Halfords Mobile Experts, McConechy’s and selected Universal Tyres and National Tyres garages are participating in the Halfords Motoring Club in the United Kingdom.

These Conditions are integral to each Membership and are independent of any other contract you might have with Halfords.

Membership to the Halfords Motoring Club is subject to a minimum 12 month term, regardless of the selected payment frequency and subject to clause 5.1.

We specifically draw your attention to clauses 4.3 (Automatic Renewal), 5.1 and 5.2 (Right to Cancel).

        (b) ‘One-off’ Benefits may be used in conjunction with multiple ‘always on’ Benefits; and

    4. The Benefits shall come into effect from the Start Date and are valid for the duration of your Membership.
  3. Fees and Payment
    1. If you select a Free Membership, then you will not be required to pay. If you purchase a Premium Membership however, you agree to pay either:
        (a) monthly at a cost of £4.99 per month (a “ Monthly Premium Membership”); or
        (b) annually at a cost of £49 (an “ Annual Premium Membership”)
Once you select a payment frequency, this can only be changed at the end of the relevant Initial Term or Renewal Term (as defined in clause 4) by contacting the Motoring Club Support Team prior to renewal.
    2. By agreeing to purchase a Premium Membership, you also consent to a Continuous Payment Authority being arranged for future payments to be taken. 3. Subject to clause 3.8 below, the prices above are subject to change at the sole discretion of Halfords.

If a Member does upgrade to a Premium Membership, it will be considered a new Membership and the provisions set out at clause 2.1 shall apply.
    5. Members wishing to downgrade to the Free Membership need to contact the Motoring Club Support Team prior to the end of the Minimum Term, for the avoidance of doubt Premium Membership cannot be downgraded during the Minimum Term. In the event that Members downgrade to the Free Membership they will only be entitled to the Benefits associated with Free Membership which have not already been used during the current Minimum Term or Renewal Term (as defined in clause 4).
    6. Should you wish to change your Payment Method; you will need to contact the Motoring Club Support Team.
    7. Failure to use the Membership or your Benefits does not relieve you of responsibility for payment. In addition, there are no refunds on amounts paid for any Membership except as set out in clause 5 below.
    8. Monthly and Annual Premium Membership Only
    9. Your monthly or annual payment will be due and payable, and Halfords will charge your Payment Method, on or about the same day each month or year as the date you purchase your Monthly or Annual Membership (e.g. if you purchase your Monthly Membership on the 10th of the month, your Payment Method will be charged on or about the 10th of each month, if you purchase your Annual Membership on 10th January one year, your Payment Method will be charged on or about the 10th January the following year). The payment date cannot be changed except by contacting the Motoring Club Support Team prior to renewal. The amount that will be charged to your Payment Method and the day on which it becomes due can be viewed on the Membership payment portal, which you will receive the link for, via email, when you start your Membership. You can also access the payment portal through the Motoring Club Support Team.
    10. Your Monthly Membership fee will not change during the Minimum Term. In the event that, following the expiration of the Minimum Term, Halfords wants to apply an increase to the price of your future Monthly Membership fee payments, or if your Membership was subject to a reduced price or special offer, Halfords will give you notice of its new monthly membership fee by sending a notice to the e-mail address you provide.  If you do not wish to continue your Membership at the new Monthly Membership fee payment amount, you may cancel your Membership by contacting the Motoring Club Support Team within thirty (30) days of receiving such notice in accordance with these Conditions.
    11. When you purchase a Monthly Membership you are required to specify your Payment Method. You can change or update your Payment Method at any time by logging into your account on Halfords.com and updating the ‘Subscription Details’ or via the Motoring Club Support Team. It is your responsibility to ensure that the Payment Method you specify is valid at all times and has not expired. If funds available through your Payment Method are not sufficient to cover any payment when due, you are responsible for providing Halfords with access to another acceptable payment card to pay the full amount due.
    12. If Halfords is unable to obtain payment the first time Halfords attempts to charge your Payment Method, Halfords will:
        (a) attempt to charge your Payment Method on three separate occasions over the next seven days to obtain payment; and
        (b) notify you that payment has been unsuccessful by sending a notice to the e-mail address you have provided.
    13. If you receive notification from Halfords that your Payment Method has been unsuccessful, it is your responsibility to:
        (a) ensure you have sufficient funds available for Halfords to successfully charge your Payment Method; or
        (b) provide Halfords with the details of another payment method that is acceptable to Halfords for the specific missed payment; or
        (c) update your Payment Method for the specific missed payment and all future payments.
    14. If we are unable to successfully take payment from your Payment Method after seven (7) days from notification being given in accordance with clause 3.10, we retain the right to, in our sole discretion, revoke your Membership immediately.
    15. If any fees due are not received at any time, at the sole discretion of Halfords, your Membership may be suspended, and you will lose access to the Benefits until payment is made.
    16. If your Membership is revoked in accordance with these Conditions:
        (a) your Membership will be permanently deactivated, and you will no longer be eligible to receive any of the Benefits of the Membership; and
        (b) we will still be entitled to recover any unpaid Membership fees from you.
  4. Term
    1. The minimum term of your membership is twelve (12) months from the Start Date (the " Minimum Term").
    2. Your Membership may not be cancelled or terminated by you during the Minimum Term except as set out in clause 5, the "right to cancel" below.
    3. Following the expiry of the Minimum Term, both the Free and Premium (whether Annual or Monthly) Membership will automatically renew for a further twelve (12) month period (a "Renewal Term"), unless terminated by you giving notice to terminate a minimum of three (3) days and a maximum of thirty (30) days prior to the renewal date or in accordance with clause 5.1 below.
    4. At least thirty (30) days prior to the renewal date, we will contact you by email to remind you that your Membership is soon due for renewal.
    5. If you give notice to terminate in accordance with clause 4.3 above, at the end of the relevant Minimum Term or Renewal Term, you will no longer be entitled to any of the Benefits.
  5. Right to Cancel
    1. Regardless of whether you have an Annual Premium Membership or a Monthly Premium Membership, provided always that you have not used any of the Benefits, during any Cooling-Off Period you can cancel your Membership and receive a refund by contacting the Motoring Club Support Team.
    2. Subject to clauses 5.3 and 5.4 below, the value of any Benefits that you have used during any Cooling-Off period and prior to such cancellation will be deducted from any refund that you may be due.
    3. For the avoidance of doubt, if you have used any of your Benefits and these exceed the value of the payments that you have made for the Membership during the Cooling-Off Period, you will not be entitled to cancel your Membership and you will be liable to pay us the remainder of the fees due for the Membership.
    4. In the event that you attempt to use your Benefits after contacting us to cancel your Membership, you will not be entitled to cancel your Membership and you will be liable to pay us the remainder of the fees due for the Membership.
    5. We reserve the right to apply our discretion in special circumstances and should we agree to terminate your Membership early, you will be required to pay us either the remainder of the fees due for the Membership, or to reimburse us for the costs of any benefits claimed.
  6. Benefits, Use and Exclusions
    1. For more detailed information on the Benefits, please see our related FAQs.
    2. Halfords reserves the right to amend the Benefits available from time to time and upon renewals.
    3. The Halfords locations at which Benefits can be used, subject to any other restrictions set out in these Conditions, are:
        (a) Halfords website www.halfords.com
        (b) Halfords retail stores based in the UK;
        (c) participating Halfords Group Garages based in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland); and
        (d) Halfords Mobile Experts based in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland).
    4. To use your Benefits in a Halfords retail store or a Halfords Group Garage you will need to present your Loyalty Pass. For security, we may ask additional questions to ensure that only the person registered in the Halfords Motoring Club is using the Benefits.
    5. To access and use your Benefits online, you need to visit www.Halfords.com/myaccount and login to your account, where you will see the Benefits that are available to you and any that have already been redeemed. Your applicable benefits can be selected during the process. For Members with a Premium Membership, your 5% off all recommended retail pricing on products in the Motoring Category will automatically be deducted during the checkout process.
    6. In the event that you wish to obtain a refund for your use of a Benefit(s), you need to contact the Motoring Club Support Team.
    7. Fair Usage
    8. Your usage of the Membership and the Benefits will be subject always to fair use as set out below.
    9. Benefits can only be used by the person registered for the Halfords Motoring Club and individuals may only register for one Membership. For the avoidance of doubt, sharing your Membership or attempting to register multiple memberships is a breach of these Conditions and any attempted use of a Membership by someone other than the Member and/or registration of multiple memberships per individual will result in your Membership being frozen and you will not be entitled to use any other Benefits.
    10. Benefits cannot be sold, loaned or given away to or used by a third party. A loyalty benefit will automatically become void without a refund if sold, loaned or given away or if any attempt is made to sell, loan or give it away.
    11. Benefits cannot be used in conjunction with any offers or discounts offered by third parties including but not limited to “Blue Light” discounts.
    12. Benefits are subject to availability and Membership does not entitle Members to priority booking. Members should book Benefits early to avoid disappointment.
    13. For Members with a Premium Membership, your 5% off all recommended retail pricing on products in the Motoring Category is for personal use only, and bulk buying will result in your Membership of Halfords Motoring Club being suspended and access to Benefits being removed automatically.  If you spend more than £3,000 in a month using your 5% discount, we reserve the right to remove all Halfords Motoring Club Benefits from your account and reserve the right to terminate your Membership. The free next day delivery can only be used for deliveries to Members’ registered home address and one other address only.
    14. Membership will be revoked if:
        (a) a Member is found to be guilty of fraud or attempted fraud in respect of the Membership;
        (b) in the reasonable opinion of Halfords, there is misuse of the Membership in breach of these Conditions of any kind; or
        (c) in the reasonable opinion of Halfords, there is any inappropriate conduct at a Halfords retail store, Halfords Group Garage or with a Halfords Mobile Expert.
    15. If Halfords suspects that any of the circumstances set out in clause 6.12 apply, Halfords may temporarily suspend Membership for the minimum period required to investigate. In the event that we decide to cancel your Membership due to misuse, you may be required to pay us the remainder of the fees due for the Membership year.
    16. For the avoidance of doubt, inappropriate conduct means, without limitation, causing any security or safety concerns, displaying any sign or visible representation of any kind which is, or could reasonably be judged to be, threatening, abusive or insulting to any member of Halfords staff and/or other members of the public in a Halfords property or mobile location.

    1. If we fail to comply with these Conditions, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Conditions or our negligence, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence of our breach or if it was contemplated by you and us at the time we entered into this Contract.
    2. Except where expressly stated otherwise and agreed in writing with you, we only supply the Goods or Services for domestic and private use. You agree not to use the Goods for any commercial, business or resale purposes, and we have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.
    3. We do not in any way exclude or limit our liability for:
        (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
        (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
        (c) any breach of the terms implied by section 9 to 11, or 17 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015; and
        (d) defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

  9. Variation
Halfords reserves the right to amend or vary these Terms by giving Members no less than thirty (30) days’ written notice of such variation using the details provided to Halfords when the member purchased a Membership and by making note of such changes available on the terms and conditions page of the website at https://www.halfords.co.uk/information/terms so please review the website periodically for changes.

  11. Other Important Terms

    2. You may only transfer your rights or your obligations under these Conditions to another person if we agree in writing.
    3. This Contract is between you and us. No other person shall have any rights to enforce any of its terms.
    4. Each of the clauses of these Conditions operates separately. If any court or relevant authority decides that any of them are unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining paragraphs will remain in full force and effect.
    5. If we fail to insist that you perform any of your obligations under these Conditions, or if we do not enforce our rights against you, or if we delay in doing so, that will not mean that we have waived our rights against you and will not mean that you do not have to comply with those obligations. If we do waive a default by you, we will only do so in writing, and that will not mean that we will automatically waive any later default by you.
    6. These Terms are governed by English law. This means a Contract for the purchase of Goods through our Website and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it will be governed by English law.
