Returns Information
Items purchased as a gift from 27th September to 24th December 2022 can be returned until 31st January 2023.
If you change your mind and decide you no longer want an item that we've delivered, we're happy to offer you an exchange or your money back.
You'll need to return your item unused and in their original packaging along with the original packing note and invoice (as proof of purchase) to the store or garage that you collected it from.
If you’ve bought a refurbished product and change your mind about the purchase, you'll need to return it to the store or garage that you collected it from within 14 days of purchase. Please note the item must be returned unused in it’s original packaging with an unbroken seal and proof of purchase. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If your item is found to be faulty after 30 days, it will be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty. Please visit our refurbished products advice page for more information.
If you need to return an item we'll happily offer a refund as long as this is within 28 days of delivery, in its original packaging and you have proof of purchase.
There are three easy ways to return your item(s):
- in-store
- in-garage
- by post
- by courier.
For exchanges or to return an item collected in store, please visit one of our stores. However, please note that for items collected at a garage, we do not yet currently offer exchanges or repairs and so you can only return the item for a refund.
You can return an item for free at the store from which it was collected, but if you choose to return by post you'll need to cover the cost of postage. However, if the item you're returning is faulty we'll refund the postage once we've received the item and checked the fault.
- You can return any item for free at the store or garage from which it was collected, along with your proof of purchase (if your items were delivered you'll have received a proof of purchase email).
- We will happily refund your payment onto the card you paid with or, if we are able to, offer an exchange.
- It's at the managers' discretion whether to accept a return if you don't have proof of purchase.
- To return an item by post you'll need to print off a returns note here.
- All the information you need to fill in the returns form can be found in your invoice.
- Please try to use the original packaging when sending your items back and make sure it's securely packaged; Halfords cannot be held responsible for any damage during posting.
- Attach the return address label included with your delivery.
- Make sure you take your parcel to your local Post Office in enough time for it to get to us within 28 days of you receiving your order.
- Please note returns made by post are at the customers' own expense.
- We recommend using a trackable service and getting proof of postage.
- Please keep your proof of postage until we've confirmed your refund has been processed.
- For larger products (such as adult bikes, tool chests and roof boxes) we offer a courier collection service.
- A £7 charge applies for this service.
- To request this service, please contact Customer Services on 0345 504 53 53 or email customer.services@halfords.co.uk.
- Please note, E-Scooters cannot be returned by courier and must be returned in stores.
Please note the following:
- Collections require a minimum of two working days' notice.
- Someone will need to be available to sign at the time of collection.
- Collections can only be made Monday - Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
- Collection will take place between 9am and 6pm (we're afraid exact times can't be given).
- Please re-pack the item(s) securely for courier transport. (All cycles must be un-built and boxed for return.)
- We'll aim to refund you as soon as possible, but will refund your account within 28 days.
- If an item's faulty it's best to return it to the store or garage from where it was collected, as this is the quickest way to receive your refund.
- Don’t forget your proof of purchase. We may need to verify the serial number on your receipt against the serial number on the item being returned.
- If you're unable to return a faulty item to your local store please contact us.
Faulty items will be examined either by ourselves or the manufacturer. Where applicable a refund will be sent to your account within 28 days.
Consumer protection legislation says that items must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If you buy a product online and it's found to be faulty within 30 days, you're entitled to ask for a full refund of the faulty product. If a fault occurs after the initial 30 days, we're entitled to repair and/or replace that item. Please note for some products repairs will have to be carried out by the manufacturer. If it can't be repaired or replaced, then you may be entitled to a refund. Advice about your legal rights is available from your local Citizens' Advice Bureau or Trading Standards office.
In addition to your usual rights of return, and subject to the remainder of this section, if you change your mind and decide you no longer want a bicycle (" bike") that you have purchased, you have the right to return that bike within 14 days from the date of purchase, even if that bike has been used.
In order to be eligible for a bike return, bikes must be clean and in an as new condition. With the exception of minor superficial dirt, paragraph 1 will not apply to bikes that are dirty, scratched or otherwise damaged.
The cancellation right set out in this section does not apply in the case of the following bikes, which may only be returned if they are either unused or faulty:
- Mechanical Bikes which were purchased before 25 December 2021, E-bikes which were purchased before 25 June 2021; or
- Bikes which were purchased and/or have been used for commercial use.
Returns of used bikes can only be accepted in store. To exercise your right to return a bike, please take the bike to the store from which it was purchased or, if the bike was purchased online, to your nearest Halfords retail store.
You must bring the manuals, (charger and battery key for E-Bikes) and any other components along with the bike, and have your receipt or online order confirmation in order to be eligible for a return. Halfords reserves the right to refuse to return or exchange any used bike for which you do not have a receipt or order confirmation.
We will refund you on the credit card or debit card used by you to pay. If you used vouchers to pay for the bike, we will refund you in vouchers. If the bike was purchased using Klarna, we expect that Klarna will process your refund within 5-7 days of the date of return.
When returning items for a refund that were bought online as part of a 'Buy One, Get One Free' offer, 'Buy One, Get One Half Price' offer, '3 for 2' offer, or a 'Buy, Get a Free' offer, all of the items involved in the offer must be returned.
Please note, personalised products and made-to-order products cannot be returned unless faulty.
